Interracial relationships can be a source of conflict for family members of the couple, including parents, brothers, sisters, uncles and aunties. This can be a reason why so few people attend weddings where there is an interracial couple. But there are changing attitudes as interracial relationships have become more common.
Over time, people may come to accept an interracial relationship as the norm rather than the exception. There are situations when there are other reasons, apart from the interracial relationship, conflict arises among family members, including ethnicity, religion, old school ties, social classes.
For example, would a rich man marry a homeless person? Now this may bring friction within the family. Quite often, the first detail family members want to know about your new relationship, is where your partner lives, job, car, appearances and level of education.
There are other factors that may affect relationships, including religion, social classes and other prejudices. Some people have objections to their children marrying to people across the other side of the tracks. They may be of the same race, same religion but live in an area that is not acceptable to the parents.
You can try and please your family, but there are times when love is too strong between members of the couple to care about people who will not accept the situation.
This is the time when you cannot please everyone with interracial relationships.
