At the conclusion of the wedding ceremony and when the wedding reception gets underway, those who are part of the official wedding party and the other guests, will have a chance to honor the bride and groom with wedding toasts. One of the longest standing traditions as part of nuptials are the wedding speeches and toasts that are offered.
In most instances, it is the best man who offers the main wedding speech and after that is done, then the other wedding toasts are able to begin. It is at this point that the guests who have not been involved as part of the official wedding party, have a chance to participate in the nuptial event. In addition, making a toast is a nice way to create a transition from the formality of the wedding ceremony, into a more fun and relaxed tone.
Most often, the wedding toasts are offered at the rehearsal dinner, at the wedding reception and sometimes during both. In either case, the toasts normally come after the end of the meal, or just before the ceremony where the cake is cut during the reception.
