Choosing Your List of Wedding Songs

Wedding planning was never said to be easy. Making the reception a disaster with a list of wedding songs completely overdone, unsuitable for small children or the older generations can be avoided.

Do not fall into the realm of cheesy, bad taste songs at your wedding. Just because your cousin had the "Electric Slide" played at hers, does not make it a family tradition that needs to be followed.

Thanks to the popularity of line dancing, wedding guests get to take part of the "Macarena" by Los Del Rio. There is a fine line being tread in order to please everyone at the reception but the "Macarena" has went well past that into overuse and sheer lunacy with the idea of a horde of women, burdened down by fifty pounds of taffeta, lining up and dancing.

In this same category is the "Cha Cha Slide" and even though technically it is not a line dance, the "Chicken Dance" must be included.

While AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" might be a great song for a party, it may not go over so well on the list of wedding songs you want played at the reception. Or at least not until after the older or more conservative members of the reception adjourn for the night.

Yes, it is your wedding but a little courtesy to the guests can go a long way in making the day a wonderful affair.
